Meet Arnold 'AWSB' Basajjasubi

How we met

Moving to the Western Cape was the most liberating experience of my life. Taking on adulthood, in a place filled to the brim with life and hardship, is so artistically stimulating for creatives. I met a young man named Arnold Basajassubi one night in Cape Town just before attending, what I remember to be, a very lively party. The two of us were introduced to each other through mutual friends. The sun setting behind one of the many mountains visible around the city, full glasses of wine, and an impromptu poetry reciting set the scene for Arnold and me. When I first started working on Misa Narrates I knew I wanted to feature other writers, Arnold is one writer who made that clear as day when I first met him.

The man behind 'AWSB'

Arnold 'AWSB' Basajjasubi has been writing poetry since his days in high school. Originally from Uganda, but born and raised in South Africa, Arnold has been writing about love for years and is currently a Bachelor of Arts student at the University of Cape Town; studying English Literature & Media and Writing. With dreams of penning his own anthologies, plays, films, and novels, Arnold draws his inspiration from women. As he explained what writing poetry meant to him he noted with a sort of peacefulness, "I have a deep love for women, especially black women...they've made me feel the most."Taking on the part of a contributor to any forum is no small task, but Arnold seemed excited to begin creating in collaboration with Misa Narrates. Fall in love and enjoy his work as much as I did."I write to relate...I write to touch someone's heart...to save...I write for the insecure black boys." - AWSB Keep up with AWSB!Twitterwww.clingingtosanity.tumblr.com
